Position Information

Position Title: Senior QMI Engineer (Contractor)

Reference Indicator: ENA/21X

Department: Instrumentation & Automation (ENA)

Location: Oman LNG Plant, Sur

Reports To: Lead QMI Engineer (ENA/21)

Role Purpose

The Senior QMI Engineer is responsible for supporting the integrity, reliability, and performance of all Quality Measurement Instruments (QMI),process analyzers, and custody transfer metering systems across the Oman LNG facility. The role provides specialized technical expertise to ensure measurement accuracy, operational reliability, plant availability, and compliance with applicable regulatory and industry requirements.

The position plays a key role in identifying and mitigating measurement-related risks, implementing short-, medium-, and long-term improvement initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) performance. The Senior QMI Engineer is expected to lead complex troubleshooting activities, resolve critical measurement issues, and contribute to the development and execution of engineering strategies, maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives related to QMI and metering systems.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Support the effective management and technical integrity of all QMI and custody transfer metering systemsby ensuring the availability of qualified resources, tools,

equipment, and engineering support required for maintenance and operational activities.

  1. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and subject matter expertise to the QMI team and relevant cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the safe and reliable operation of measurement systems.
  2. Ensure compliance with Oman LNG procedures, international standards, and industry regulations through the implementation and maintenance of robust quality assurance and quality control processes.
  3. Support the development, implementation, and optimization of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies for QMI, analyzer, and metering assets.
  4. Develop, review, and continuously improve maintenance procedures, work instructions, inspection programs, and testing schedules within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  5. Lead and contribute to engineering studies, system upgrades, modifications, and capital projects related to process analyzers, measurement systems, and custody transfer metering facilities.
  6. Support the evaluation, specification, selection, and implementation of new QMI and metering technologies while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
  7. Ensure adherence to approved procedures, technical standards, engineering practices, and governance requirements within the Oman LNG Quality Management System (QMS).
  8. Provide technical support for incident investigations, root cause analyses, technical studies, P&ID reviews, HAZOP studies, SIL assessments, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and other process safety initiatives.

  1. Ensure the technical qualityand integrity of assigned engineering activities, ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and effectively managed.
  2. Support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity requirements and protective measures for analyzer, metering, and associated control systems to safeguard critical operational assets.
  3. Lead and support advanced troubleshooting activities to diagnose and resolve analyzer, QMI, and metering system issues, minimizing operational disruptions and production losses.
  4. Review and optimize spare parts strategies and inventory levels to ensure the availability of critical spares required to maintain system reliability and operational continuity.
  5. Contribute to competency development, succession planning, and knowledge transfer initiatives through the coaching, mentoring, and development of Omani engineers and technicians in line with Oman LNG's workforce development objectives.
  6. Promote a strong HSSE culture by ensuring all activities are executed in full compliance with applicable safety regulations, company procedures, and engineering best practices.
  7. Monitor system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions to enhance measurement accuracy, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
  8. Liaise with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and regulatory authorities, as required, to ensure effective technical support and compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical Engineering,

or a related engineering discipline.

  • Professional certifications in metering, process analyzers, functional safety, reliability engineering, or project management will be considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or related process industries.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in gas metering, fiscal and custody transfer systems, and LNG measurement applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in process analyzers, gas chromatographs, flow measurement systems, sampling systems, and measurement data validation.
  • Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of analyzer and metering systems within a major industrial facility.
  • Exposure to engineering projects, brownfield modifications, and Management of Change (MOC) processes is desirable.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of international standards and recommended practices, including AGA, API, ISO, IEC, and applicable custody transfer measurement standards.
  • Sound understanding of gas composition measurement, flow measurement technologies, uncertainty analysis, and metering system performance verification.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities in complex measurement and analyzer systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks, control systems, and cybersecurity principles applicable to analyzer and metering systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering documentation, technical reporting, and maintenance management systems.

Working Conditions

  • Plant-basedposition located at Oman LNG, Sur.

  • Standard work schedule:5 days on / 2 days off.

  • Participation in on-call support and emergency response activities outside normal working hours, as required.
  • Site visits and field activities within operational and hazardous process environments.

  • Occasional support for shutdowns, commissioning activities, and major maintenance works, as required.
